My deepest condolences to his family (Suni, Zoë and others).

I was in Úbeda last summer, I had the opportunity to talk to you personally, Basil. My admiration to you and your music took me to that place. We were all very impressed for your strength and personality. You were very kind to us all. Those days were that kind of unforgottable moments in everyone's life.

I'm deeply affected by this terrible news. You were not only one of the greatest film composers of all time, but also a great man.

Wherever you are, I'll always remember you.

Thank you for everything.

Peio.

My deepest sympathy to the family.
I just recently attended a workshop which studied many of Basils Scores.
I gained an even deeper appreciation and understanding of the deep passion and intensity
of his music. I feel blessed to have had been given this insight into his creativity. I am grateful to have met him through his music.

With a great grief I has learned that the outstanding composer passed away. Indeed, an irreplaceable loss to everyone who likes and values his music, so much life-asserting and vital. I have no doubt, that though he is no longer with us his art and work will outlive us all for a time ahead.

Unfortunately I didn't know Basil personally, and now I will never have an opportunity to, but his music is still around and within me for years to enjoy.

I condole deeply with the family and friends.

Thank you wherever you are Poledouris. I never had the opportunity to meet you and my life is that much smaller because of it.

The Conan The Barbarian soundtrack is one of the most amazing works I've heard. My hope is that as time passes that your work will continue to garner the respect that it deserves.

Your music made the movies they were in.

Thank you sir from a humble fan.

Reports tell me that Basil was truly surprised at the reception he got in Spain, that he was taken aback by how many people knew and loved his music.

Would that I could tell him how much his music meant to me, in all stages or circumstances of life, whether it be alone in the dead of night, enjoying a glass of port on a sunny afternoon, or traveling the counry by train or plane. Basil, your music has served as the soundtrack to my life on many occasions. Always appropriate, always reliable, always melodic, powerful and emotional.
That's why I return to your music again and again.
Thanks.
Thanks so much.
I will miss you beyond words.

Dear family Poledouris, please accept my most heartfelt condolences.
ALL over the world people grieve.
And as long as so many people love and remember, he surely never can be really gone.

Terrible news to hear that a fine composer that was sadly overlooked has passed on at such a young age.

Terrible news.

I was in Ubeda with friends where we realized a long career interview with Basil. He received us during 1 hour and a half and spoke to us with a lot of passion and sincerity. Then, we went to the concert and what a great moment this was! Everybody was with Basil, with his music, with the heroes of CONAN... During the final battle cue, John Frizzell was behind me, he was living with all of us the emotions coming from the stage and the great artist conducting the generous orchestra and choir.
Basil loved the cinema, he loved the music, he was a truly generous person.
All my sympathy goes to his family and the people who were close to him.
He'll always stay in our memories.

Dear Zoe, Alexis, Suni and all the Poledouris family

and to all his fans and friends. This is a sad day for all of us. I started by being his fan and ended with being privileged to be his friend and can say this about BASIL, if there was a thing he excelled at even more than at writing the most beautiful music ever that thing he excelled in was his love, his passion, his kindness and humanity, his love for life, his family, friends and fans. He was and forever will be in our hearts! You are truly the most shining of the stars in heaven dear Basil and will live forever in our hearts and souls. When I was in need you always had a good word of advice, today we lose a friend on earth but we all gain a great soul in heaven to watch over us.

All my respect and most sincere condolensces to his family, friends and fans. God bless You Vassili Constantin Poledouris! The greatest among the greatest. Shine On Forever My Friend! We'll meet again!

I Remain Yours Truly
- Godwin Borg

Dear all,

I'm extremely sorrowful. I knew from Basil's passing this morning and as I had the chance of meeting him last summer in Ubeda, I feel really sad as my hero, and since then my friend, passed away.

He'll never leave us, he'll be in our hearts, forever.

And for sure, the Valhalla doors are wide open for him. And for sure, there's a big orchestra waiting for him to play his best pieces.

Farewell, my dear Basil. Adios, Maestro.

I have herd it today, I still can believe it, I was just doing the usual check in the net for any news in soundtrack releases and assignments, and there it was, just like that it was in the news…Basil Poledouris is Dead!
I listen, love and collect soundtracks for 12 years now and Poledouris was one of my favorite Composers.
It was the one of the first composers that I have known 12 years ago when I started, plus I am from Greece and it was really a connection for me that he had written some of my favorites (among them is Hunt for the Red October, Conan, Robocop, Flesh+Blood) I will miss his talent for sweeping themes that talk to my heart…

I was ready this month to take a soundtrack of his, so I will say Goodbye to Him with the CD title…FAREWELL TO THE KING!
