I started my morning listening by chance to Robocop's theme and, once more, being hit by it's brilliance. I feel then the necessity to hear again to other of Basil's masterpieces that are among my most loved soundtracks: Big Wednesday, Conan, The Hunt for Red October, and so on... Feeling again the joy and the subtle passion that his music has.
I started to wonder then about the man, vaguely remembering from hearing about his passing. Found this page, and read, among others, the incredible person he was: humble, devoted, full of passion,... John Milius words, Richard's Kraft, or the story behind his las concert in Úbeda, that so well speaks about his personality.
I knew that his music will be well missed. Now I know that the man stands as high as his music, by far among the greatests.
As futile as it is, I have been all my day remembering Basil, learning from him, rejoicing on his music. Still being remembered by anonimous persons all over the world, like me, more than three years from his passing. That's well deserverd eternity.
P.D. To whoever reads this, and could do something about it: Basil deserves a higher recognision by the film industry. I'm struck to learn that he didn't even get an Academy Award nomination for any of his works. Such blind fools.
